A few weeks ago we took Wylie down to Legoland and the San Diego Zoo for a mini-holiday. It was the tail end of Wyatt's Spring Break. We were the typical Californians...jackets, hats, and bundled up in San Diego. It was COLD. Didn't break 62F until late on Saturday afternoon but even then in the shade it was cold. Legoland was a solid fun day. It is identified as one of the "greenest" amusement parks in the world. Based on some of the rides that is because they are self powered or use a mini generator that doesn't constantly run or use gas. The bathrooms are installed with dual flush toilets and the water is on motion sensors. Most of the rides are geared for children 34 inches and taller while some of the rides are age based. In all cases where the lines are expected to be long there is a spot where the kids can play with legos while the parents wait in line. What suprised me was in some cases both parents were in line and the kids were left to their own devices...yes I'm shaking my head in disdain because some of these kids were very little and easily could have been walked off with by a stranger. The San Diego Zoo was fun too. We took our time getting there in the morning and then tried to catch at least one show and a few other fun events. Wylie sadly wasn't very impressed. He napped through the seal show, napped for the bus ride through the park, and for the most part just wasn't in to the zoo. To be honest it felt tiny, cramped and most of the animals seemed to be like pets...This zoo might have been fantastic in the 70s and 80s but now it has eclipsed itself with the Wild Animal Park.
