Sonoma!

Sonoma!
Wyatt Wylie and I spent the weekend in Sonoma, CA with Tea and Ed. We originally planned on driving up late on Friday and then coming home really late on Sunday. Thursday evening I scored a last minute travel deal that was flight and car together for under $400 for the three of us. So we flew and drove.
On Friday we visited a beautiful local art gallery in which we got to meet two of the artists exhibiting. I really like works on paper and Kirk Hirsch's work of torn paper and media really caught my eye. It was a nice night with cool weather and lots of stars. We were up early on Saturday nosing around the garden and patio before a yummy breakfast of cereal and fresh fruit. Sonoma finally has a Whole Foods which officially brings the area into the "upscale" grocery world. As much as I love Whole Foods, something about Sonoma is fundamentally changed and modernized. Tea and Ed had several cereals from Whole Foods and talked about how great it was that one was finally in town. We spent Saturday visiting several vineyards: Moon Mountain, Loxton, and Wellington. We went home with bottles from Loxton and Wellington. Moon Mountain did a really great tour and tasting but the wine was not to my liking. We then went home for a little while before heading into downtown Sonoma to see Ratatouille. The Sonoma theater is a small single screen movie house that still serves popcorn made at the theater. It was Wylie's first movie. He nursed and slept for the first half, watched about 15 minutes and then nursed some more and slept some more. A great experience. Sunday we woke up to very yummy fritatta/omelette that Tea made before heading out to more vineyards and the Sonoma Art Museum. We visited Chateau St. Jean and Kenwood bringing home two bottles from each. The Sonoma Art museum was hosting a juried exhibit of local artists. There were some amazing works in particular one of what appeared to be washcloths piled up on top of each other. It was ceramic. Very cool... We finished the day with a dip in the pool and a quiet dinner at home. Wylie enjoyed the pool and had fun with Tea and Ed all weekend.
